I
hate to admit it, but I did slack off this past winter, which resulted in an
abundance of weeds in the Secret Garden, Rose Garden, front yard, and the RV
park. Thankfully, the g-kids arrived with their mother to help pull weeds last
week. They were amazing, and one hour later, the dumpster was full. There are
still plenty of weeds to pull, and each day a few more disappear. This weekend
time, I will spend pulling weeds in between working on taxes and finishing up a
couple of art projects.
The gardening adventures of an Iowa farm girl accustomed to gardening in pitch-black dirt. Charlene spent 30 years trying to garden at 5600' above sea level in the New Mexico sand on Albuquerque's West Mesa. Charlene has returned to Iowa to once again play in Iowa's pitch black dirt. Follow Charlene's gardening adventures as she creates artistic flower beds and explores home gardens, greenhouses, and garden centers and attends Farmers' Markets and festivals. Guaranteed to be a fun journey.

Spring Time Is Just Around The Corner
Once
school started last September, gardening and yardwork took a back seat. Now
it is time to get ready for this year's garden. Today, I added organic
matter to the Secret Garden in hopes of growing tasty veggies, unlike two
years ago, when the watermelon lacked flavor.
The first step is to
make a plan before investing time and money into projects that will not get
completed. Better get to work putting together the plan for this year's
gardens on Rough Court.
